Booking page: travel cost uses the real driving distance

Per-kilometre prices on your booking page now use the route you actually drive – no longer the straight-line distance.

Fixed

  • Travel cost uses the real driving distance. When a customer booked through your booking page, products billed “per kilometre” used to be calculated with the straight-line distance from your origin address to the customer’s address. The road is usually a good deal longer – on longer trips 20 to 30 percent of the kilometres were easily missing. We now work out the driving distance by car via Google Maps, just like in your event planning.

  • Same kilometres in the preview, the request and the event. Your customer already sees the driving distance in the price preview, and exactly these kilometres then show up in the request and as the distance on the event. Distance-based price rules use the driving distance too.

  • The delivery radius stays a radius. “Limit orders to delivery radius” still checks the straight-line distance around your origin address – a radius is a circle, not a route. If Google can’t find a route, the page falls back to the straight-line distance and the booking still goes through.
