Writing texts with AI
How to get AI-suggested descriptions for items, venues, booking pages, text blocks, text positions in quotes and an event’s website short text — and what a suggestion costs.
Next to many text fields you’ll find the Write with AI button. It opens a dialog in which the AI builds a suggested text from the details already stored in Univents. You review the suggestion, apply it to the field and save as usual.
Where the button appears
- Items and dishes: on the description in the item editor.
- Venues: on the description in the venue form.
- Booking pages: on the description and the info block (web shop).
- Text blocks: on the text of a text block (Settings → Templates).
- Quotes: on every text position in a quote, as long as the document is a draft.
- Events: on the Short text for your website in the “Edit event” dialog.
You only see the button if you’re allowed to edit the field. It works with the saved state: for a new item, venue or text block, save once first and the button becomes active.
How it works
- Click Write with AI.
- At the top, the dialog shows which details go into the suggestion, for example “Name, Category, Components”.
- Choose the length (short, medium, detailed) and the tone (factual, warm, elevated). Medium and factual are preselected; your browser remembers your last choice.
- Optionally add a note for the AI, such as “emphasise the terrace”.
- Click Generate. If you don’t like the suggestion, click Generate again for different wording.
- Click Apply. If the field already contains text, Univents asks first whether to replace it.
- Save the form. Only then is the text stored — if you close without saving, everything stays as it was.
In formatted fields the suggestion arrives with paragraphs, bullet lists and bold text. Plain fields (venue, website short text) get plain text. The website short text always stays within 280 characters.
What the AI writes — and what it doesn’t
The AI writes in your workspace’s base language. It doesn’t touch translations — translate afterwards as usual with Translate automatically.
It uses only details stored in the system. It doesn’t invent prices, capacities, quantities, dates or labels such as “organic” or “regional”. It only mentions allergens if they’re stored on the item — if none are, it makes no statement about them, not even “gluten-free”.
Texts for booking pages, items and the website short text are worded neutrally, without addressing the reader directly. Text blocks and text positions in quotes address the customer formally — even with a warm tone.
Review every suggestion before applying it. The AI is no substitute for legal advice, which is why contracts don’t have this button.
What a suggestion costs
“Write with AI” is included from the Core plan. It’s billed by usage from your AI credit, usually around 1 cent per suggestion, at least 1 cent. After generating, the dialog shows what the suggestion cost. A failed call costs nothing. In the usage overview under Settings → Billing, the usage appears as the area Texts.
If your credit is used up, the dialog still opens, explains this and links to top-up. On plans below Core, the dialog names the required plan and generates nothing. Each workspace can create at most 120 suggestions per hour.
Frequently asked questions
Is the text saved straight away? No. “Apply” only puts the suggestion into the field. It’s saved with the form’s normal save (on booking pages automatically after a short pause, as usual).
Can I also ask the AI assistant in the chat to write a description? Yes. The chat reads the item and writes the description directly — formatted with paragraphs and bullet lists, too.
Is my data sent to the AI? Yes, the details listed at the top of the dialog go to the AI provider Anthropic, which also processes chat, translation and reply drafts. For text positions in quotes, that includes the customer name and contact person. Univents doesn’t store your note or the generated text unless you apply and save it.
