Kitchen Monitor – Production Under Control
After reading this article you'll be able to open the Kitchen Monitor in Inventory, track the day's progress using filters, move tasks through all three status stages, display the monitor in fullscreen, and restrict access for your team.
The Kitchen Monitor in Univents shows you in real time which production tasks are scheduled for today, what is already in progress, and what has been completed. Every status change is immediately visible on all devices that currently have the monitor open.

Opening the Kitchen Monitor
- Go to Inventar in the sidebar navigation.
- Switch to the Küche tab in the top tab bar.
You will now see the dark Kitchen Monitor dashboard with a KPI overview (Gesamt, Offen, In Arbeit, Fertig) and the date selector.
Selecting and Navigating Dates
The monitor displays the current day by default. You can change the date in three ways:
- Click the ‹ arrow (one day back) or › arrow (one day forward).
- Type directly into the date field and select any date you like.
- Click Heute to jump back to the current day immediately.
The top left shows the selected weekday written out in full so you can see at a glance which day you are viewing.
Filtering Tasks
Four filter tabs sit above the task list:
| Tab | Shows |
|---|---|
| Alle | All tasks for the day |
| Offen | Tasks that have not yet been started |
| In Arbeit | Active production tasks |
| Fertig | Completed tasks |
Click a tab to narrow the list accordingly. The green Live indicator to the right of the tabs confirms that the view updates automatically.
Advancing a Task's Status
Each task card shows a progress ring on the left (0 %, 50 %, or 100 %) and the available action buttons on the right:
- ↩ resets a task back to Offen.
- ▶ moves it to In Arbeit.
- ✓ marks the task as Fertig.
Buttons that do not apply to the current status are hidden automatically. If a task appears locked (buttons greyed out), the desired production window has not yet been reached: starting now would violate the product's minimum shelf life. The monitor unlocks the task automatically as soon as the earliest possible production time is reached.
Displaying the Kitchen Monitor in Fullscreen
For a screen mounted permanently in the kitchen, you can hide the side navigation and browser chrome:
- Click Fullscreen at the top right, next to the Live indicator.
- The monitor now fills the entire screen.
- To leave, click Exit fullscreen (or press Esc).
Fullscreen mode still runs inside your logged-in session — there is currently no separate screen access without login or via a PIN. For a kitchen tablet that stays on permanently, sign in once with an account that has Kitchen Monitor access.
Preparing Products for the Kitchen Monitor
For a product to appear in the Kitchen Monitor it must be configured accordingly in the product editor:
- Go to Inventar > Katalog and open the desired product.
- Switch to the Produktion section.
- Enable the Für die Küchenproduktion verwenden checkbox.
- Fill in the relevant fields:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Haltbarkeit (Tage) | How long is the finished product shelf-stable? Determines the earliest possible production start. |
| Vorbereitungszeit (Stunden) | How many hours before delivery must the task start at the latest? |
| Produktionstyp | Intern (produced in-house) or Extern (purchased externally). |
| Produktionskategorie | Main category in the Kitchen Monitor (e.g. "01 Warme Küche"). |
| Produktionsunterkategorie | Finer grouping within the main category. |
| Rezept | Step-by-step instructions or recipe text for the kitchen team. |
| Rezept Bilder | Reference or step-by-step images for the kitchen. |
| Allergene | Internal allergen labelling, visible to kitchen staff only. |
Managing Production Categories
Production categories structure the Kitchen Monitor and are completely separate from regular product categories (booking page, invoice).
- Open Inventar and switch to the Produktionskategorien tab.
- Click Produktionskategorie hinzufügen to create a new main category.
- Enter an internal name (e.g. "01 Warme Küche"). Number prefixes control the sort order.
- Sub-categories are created in the same way — when saving, select the parent main category.
Use Bearbeiten and Löschen at the end of each row to edit or remove existing categories.
Restricting Access to the Kitchen Monitor
By default, everyone with Inventory access can also see the Kitchen Monitor. As an owner or admin, you can restrict this:
- Go to Settings > Univents > Inventory.
- Open the Kitchen Monitor Access card.
- Choose Everyone with inventory access (default) or Admins only from the dropdown.
The change takes effect as soon as you pick an option. Users without access no longer see the Kitchen tab in Inventory at all; if they still open it via a link, they see "You don't have access to the kitchen monitor. Please contact your admin." instead of an empty screen.
Kitchen helpers without their own Inventory access still see their kitchen tasks in the Employee Portal regardless of this setting — it has its own Kitchen tab.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does a product not appear in the Kitchen Monitor? Check in the product editor under Produktion whether the Für die Küchenproduktion verwenden checkbox is active and whether a Produktionskategorie has been selected.
Why are the status buttons for a task greyed out? The task is time-locked: producing it now would fall below the product's configured minimum shelf life. The monitor unlocks the buttons automatically as soon as the earliest possible start time is reached.
Do all team members see the same view? Yes. The Kitchen Monitor updates automatically for all open sessions as soon as a status changes.
Can I run the Kitchen Monitor on a kitchen tablet without logging in? Not on its own — there is currently no PIN or kiosk access without signing in. Use fullscreen mode inside your logged-in session instead.
I no longer see the "Kitchen" tab — why? An admin has restricted Kitchen Monitor access to Admins only in Settings. Contact your workspace admin if you need access again.
